Precautionary steps to ensure good health of school students

Dealing with a group of children might sound like one of the easiest things that you are called upon to do; but to some, this is not so. For one simple reason – the scope of your responsibilities is so vast, that is takes a lot of time, effort and money to ensure that your wards are taken care of in the best possible way. You might think that children are absolutely safe, once they enter the portals of their respective educational institutions. In recent times, all these have undergone a very great change. There are so many dangers, some explicit and many more not so, that are waiting to ensnare your children and make them victims both physically as well as mentally.

This article is going to talk about the various problems that children might have to face when they study in a school. Some of the basic issues are discussed below:

· Providing clean and airy class rooms is of very great importance. This might sound like a very silly and insignificant point to those who live in developed nations. For a person who lives in a war torn country like Afghanistan, for instance, finding a building that can house a school is in itself a luxury. With bombs and artillery fire being the order of the day, it might be difficult to find a room in the first place, to find one that is safe, airy and ordinary would be even more so.

· Availability of pure and safe drinking water is yet another requirement that needs to be met by school authorities. Over a period of time, when children are exposed to water that does not meet the required standards of the Health Department you will find that the level of absenteeism is on the rise. This is sure to affect the performance of the student on one hand and the image of the school on the other. Parents and teachers need to be aware of the fact that it is possible for students to get sick mainly because of water borne diseases.

· Ensuring ergonomically designed furniture is one more area that needs to be attended to. Children find the going very tough, when they are required to sit in one place and perform the tasks that are assigned to them. in order to circumvent this problem, it is good to ensure that the furniture that is used by children is not only comfortable to work from but also appealing to look at.

The points given above are not all; they however focus on the real issue of providing a safe and comfortable environment that can ensure that a child is able to perform to the best of his or her abilities both in academic as well as non-academic activities. When the mental health of a child is ensured and the school can provide the right kind of ambience for study, there is no doubt that the child will perform really well. Is this not what we, as parents look for, for our children? Good health and good performances in school are what dreams are made up of, for us all.
