Medical Negligence Isn’t Limited To Doctors Only

When most people think of medical negligence, they think about suffering and pain that results from the actions of a doctor. While this is very common, doctors aren’t the only ones that can be held liable if you’ve been injured while under the treatment or care of a professional.

Some cases of medical negligence actually occur because a nurse hasn’t accurately followed the doctor’s orders. Perhaps the nurse reads the chart wrong, or get’s mistakenly provides treatment or medication that was intended for another patient.

The dental profession can also sometimes make mistakes that can cause you undue pain and suffering. In many cases chiropractors can make your problem much worse if they don’t follow proper procedures. And, it isn’t uncommon for severe medical conditions to occur following a cosmetic surgery that hasn’t been performed correctly.

Health care facilities, hospitals, nursing homes and hospitals are not immune from medical negligence. It is their responsibility to carefully screen all of their employees and make sure that they’re responsible and well trained. It is also their responsibility to ensure that medical equipment is working correctly and that you receive the proper treatment.

Since almost any type of surgery is a serious matter, it is one of the worst circumstances for medical negligence to occur. But, even during a surgery, the doctor isn’t the only one that can make mistakes. In some cases, the anesthesiologist doesn’t properly monitor the anesthesia and the results can be devastating.

Other professionals in the medical field that can be held liable for medical negligence are psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists. Any professional that has anything to do with your health and well being can be involved in medical negligence. And, be held responsible for any adverse affects that you suffer due to their actions.
