Effective Anti Aging Beauty Treatments

plasticsurgery250x251 Effective Anti Aging Beauty Treatments There are a number of effective minor cosmetic treatments for anti aging now on offer at beauty salons, spas and private clinics, and many of these are non invasive procedures that can have some very positive effects, without the need for risky and expensive cosmetic surgery. One of the most popular of these is Botox, which has been shown to be very effective at reducing aging wrinkles, and also deep scars that may have resulted from severe acne or other skin traumas.

Botox
Botox is also a treatment derived from the highly poisonous Botulinum toxin, and has been used successfully for many years to reduce deep wrinkles or lines on the face, and create a smoother, younger looking appearance to the skin and involves a number of injections in the affected area. Botox has also been successful as a temporary cure for excessive sweating, as it can be injected into the underarm area to numb overactive sweat glands. Botox is a medical procedure, and as such must be carried out by a trained professional (and in a clinical environment), as there are risks and potential side effects involved including:

  • Bruising, bleeding, pain or infection around the treated area
  • Headaches, nausea or flu like symptoms for up to a week after the treatments
  • Paralyse of the nerves in the surrounding area, causing muscle weakness and drooping, which may lead to trouble blinking (injections in eye areas) or speaking and eating (injections around the lips).
  • Unattractive and uncomfortable swelling or hard lumps around the injected site.

Botox treatments are not recommended for people who suffer from allergies or those with neuromuscular disorders, as there is a risk of more serious side effects, and pregnant or breast feeding mothers should never have these treatments. If you are already having Botox treatments and are happy with the results, then try not to have it done too often as this can increase the risks of problems occurring, and leave at least three months between treatments.

Fillers
Another minor cosmetic beauty treatment for anti ageing is a ‘filler’, and there are several different brands on the market, including Restylane and Perlane, which are gels that are injected into the skin to fill out wrinkles and create a smoother appearance. These can also be used to fill out lips, and there are some low risk side effects such as swelling, bruising, infection and allergic reactions.

Chemical Skin Peels
Chemical peels are quite dramatic medical treatments, and involve diluted acid solutions that are painted onto the face. These are then left for a carefully calculated period (which can be very uncomfortable in most cases) and then washed off, either with water of a neutralising solution. The acid solution basically peels off the top few layers of skin, exposing fresher looking layers from underneath and can be very effective in reducing wrinkles, pitted or discoloured skin and shallow acne scars. Chemical peels must be performed by professionals, as there are some very unpleasant side effects if the wrong solution is used, or is left on too long including:

  • Burns and scarring
  • Crusting wounds
  • Infection and irritation
  • Pain and general soreness
  • Damage to skin pigmentation (leading to skin discolouration)

Chemical peels are not suitable for people who have sensitive skin, deep scarring, uneven pigmentation, or those taking certain medications such as acne treatments.

Remember that many minor cosmetic beauty treatments are also medical procedures, so you must always ensure you have them carried out by professionals, in clean and sterile environments, with full after treatment support. ;)
